Learn By Doing

At Sparger Performing Arts, we believe the best way to grow on stage is to get on stage. That’s why every class is built around active participation—whether it’s rehearsing a scene, learning choreography, or mastering vocal technique. Students don’t just study the arts—they live them. Through hands-on experiences, real performance opportunities, and supportive mentorship, we help each performer gain the skills, confidence, and stage presence they need to shine in the spotlight and beyond.

Age Ranges

Quarterly Classes

We offer classes for varying ages and levels

"Songs and Stories" (Ages 3-5)

Whether your little one bursts into song at the breakfast table or tends to hang back and observe, Songs & Stories gives every child a warm, welcoming space to explore creativity at their own pace.

This class combines singing, movement, storytelling and imaginative play. Children learn age-appropriate songs (from Disney, Cocomelon, and other favorites), act out short scenes and bring stories to life through guided activities. With both an instructor and an aide, each child receives gentle encouragement and support.

It’s an ideal class not only for kids who love performing, but also for those who need help building confidence, expressing themselves or stepping away from a more structured academic mindset. Many quieter or very serious children surprise their families by discovering a playful, expressive side they didn’t know they had.

At the end of the session, families are invited to a short performance showcasing the songs, movements and stories the children have learned — a celebration of growth, joy and imagination.

Songs & Stories offers a nurturing introduction to the performing arts and a beautiful way for young children to find their voice.

"Broadway Kids" (Ages 6-8)

Whether your child is always singing and dancing or tends to be more reserved and thoughtful, Broadway Kids gives them a place to grow, explore and shine. This class blends beginner singing, acting and movement into one exciting experience that encourages every child to express themselves in a supportive environment.

Students learn foundational techniques in voice, movement and character-building while gaining confidence, teamwork skills and a sense of creative freedom. Even children who are very serious or unsure of the spotlight often discover a new side of themselves as they step into stories and music with their peers.

Throughout the session, the group will rehearse three musical numbers and two short scenes, culminating in a performance for family and friends. It’s a joyful celebration of their hard work, courage and growth.

Perfect for young performers bursting with energy, as well as those who simply need a safe, encouraging place to find their voice.

Broadway Kids class offers meaningful, confidence-building introduction to the magic of musical theatre.

"Broadway All-Stars" (Ages 9-13)

This dynamic class is designed for pre-teens who love to sing, dance, act — or who simply need a creative outlet where they can grow, explore and build confidence.

In Broadway All-Stars, students dive deeper into musical theatre with age-appropriate vocal training, choreography, character development and ensemble work. They’ll learn three musical numbers and two scripted scenes, working together to refine performance skills while also discovering their own strengths and artistic voice.

This class is ideal for children already interested in the performing arts and for those who may be shy, serious or academically focused. Many students in this age range benefit immensely from a space that encourages expression, collaboration and self-discovery. Here, they’re free to take risks, try new things and grow more confident both on stage and off.

Sessions culminate in an end-of-term performance for family and friends, a celebration of their hard work, creativity and courage.

Broadway kids is a fun, supportive, skill-building experience that helps every student feel seen, capable and ready to shine.

"Beginning Improv" (Ages 9-13)

This lively, game-based class introduces students to the exciting world of improvisation — the art of thinking quickly, responding creatively and having fun while doing it. Through improv games, sketch-style activities and collaborative challenges, students learn to express themselves and support their scene partners.

Whether your child is naturally outgoing or tends to be more reserved, improv is a powerful way to build confidence, communication skills, and emotional flexibility. Students discover how to take risks in a safe, encouraging space where every idea is welcomed and every voice matters.

At the end of the session, the class will present a lighthearted showcase with the playful spirit of Whose Line Is It Anyway? Families will see quick-thinking humor, creative storytelling and just how far each student has come.

Beginning Improv is a fun, skill-building class that helps young actors strengthen their performance abilities, break out of their shell and find joy in spontaneous creativity.

"Audition Masterclass" (Ages 10 - 18+)

This comprehensive masterclass is designed to help performers of all ages approach auditions with confidence, clarity and readiness. Students bring one audition song and one audition monologue to workshop directly with the instructor, receiving personalized feedback on technique, presentation and performance choices.

Throughout the session, participants’ mock auditions will be recorded and used for self-evaludation and feedback. They will also explore what makes a strong audition — from selecting appropriate material to understanding how to make bold, authentic choices in both singing and acting. This class is ideal for seasoned performers looking to refine their audition package and for those entirely new to the process who may need guidance choosing material or simply building the courage to step into the room.

Students will also learn about resumes, headshots and other elements of professional audition preparation. The experience culminates in a supportive mock audition, giving participants the chance to apply what they’ve learned in a realistic but encouraging setting.

Audition Masterclass is a valuable and empowering workshop that equips every performer with the tools, confidence and insight they need for successful auditions.
